VDS_E_INITIALIZED_FAILED
VDS_E_INITIALIZED_FAILED means that VDS or a provider could not complete its initialization. The error occurs before the requested storage action is available, so retrying the later operation without resolving the service or provider failure usually gives little diagnostic value.
What to check
- Check the System and application event logs for VDS, disk, storage-controller, and provider events recorded at the same time.
- Identify whether the failure affects every disk-management operation or only a specific third-party or hardware provider.
- Preserve the current disk configuration and collect provider diagnostics before attempting operations that change partitions, volumes, or dynamic-disk metadata.
