VDS_E_DISK_NOT_EMPTY
VDS_E_DISK_NOT_EMPTY means that VDS expected an empty disk, but the selected disk already contains partitions or volumes. This status is a guard against applying an operation intended for blank media to a disk that may contain data, boot, recovery, or provider metadata.
What to check
- Inspect the entire disk layout, including hidden, recovery, OEM, and dynamic-disk structures, before changing anything.
- Confirm that the disk identity is correct and that it is not the system, boot, or data disk selected by mistake.
- Use an explicit backup and approved cleanup plan before any operation that removes existing partitions or volumes.
