VDS_E_CORRUPT_EXTENT_INFO

VDS_E_CORRUPT_EXTENT_INFO VDS uses disk extents to describe regions on a disk. IVdsDisk::QueryExtents returns VDS_DISK_EXTENT records and documents extent types including unknown, free, data, OEM, ESP, MSR, LDM metadata, and unusable regions. Applications use this map to calculate free space and determine which volumes occupy a disk.

What the VDS state means

VDS_E_CORRUPT_EXTENT_INFO means that this extent information is not trustworthy. It is therefore dangerous to turn the failure into a simple “no free space” result: a corrupt map cannot safely answer where free space begins, which volume owns a data extent, or whether an extension range overlaps existing metadata.
