VDS_E_DISK_NOT_FOUND_IN_PACK

VDS pack operations are scoped to a disk group. IVdsPack::QueryDisks enumerates the disks in that pack, and IVdsDisk::GetPack resolves the reverse relationship. A disk ID can be valid in the service yet invalid for a particular pack-level request. This status marks that membership mismatch.

Why this state matters

The failure often appears after disk migration, foreign-pack import, or reuse of a cached selection across reenumeration. Device paths and disk numbers can change independently of VDS object membership. Resolve the current pack for every disk ID and compare it with the pack interface used for the operation. If the disk genuinely moved packs, rebuild the operation around the new ownership rather than forcing the old request.
