VDS_E_DISK_NOT_CONVERTIBLE
IVdsDisk::ConvertStyle converts an empty disk between supported partition styles, but not every disk object is convertible. VDS documentation gives optical media as an example, and the protocol notes that CD/DVD and super-floppy devices do not support partition-table operations. This status is therefore a capability/classification failure, not proof of corrupt MBR or GPT metadata.
Why this state matters
Inspect the VDS disk properties and device type before attempting cleanup or conversion. A removable or emulated device can appear as a disk object yet follow different partitioning rules. If the caller expected a normal fixed disk, verify device identity and provider ownership; forcing partition-table writes to unsupported media is not a recovery path.

- Capture VDS disk properties, device type, bus/address information, and partition style.
- Confirm the disk is empty according to the
ConvertStylecontract. - Identify optical, super-floppy, removable, or vendor-emulated device behavior before retrying.
- Do not interpret this HRESULT as evidence that the existing partition table is damaged.
