FSRM_E_RMS_NO_PROTECTORS_INSTALLED
FSRM_E_RMS_NO_PROTECTORS_INSTALLED means the file server has no registered RMS protector components that FSRM can use to apply rights protection. The AD RMS service and template can be reachable while the local file-format protection layer is absent.
Install and validate the protector layer
- Inventory the file types selected by the job and the RMS protectors installed on the server.
- Install supported protectors using the vendor deployment package and restart only the services required by that package.
- Test a small supported document with the selected template before running the job broadly.
A generic encryption utility is not a replacement for an FSRM RMS protector. Protectors understand the target file format and integrate the rights policy without corrupting the document. Microsoft notes that non-Microsoft formats require third-party support. Keep unsupported extensions out of the job until an appropriate protector is installed and tested.
