SEC_E_INTERNAL_ERROR signals this condition: The Local Security Authority could not be contacted or returned an internal SSPI error. This is a local security-subsystem failure, not evidence that a particular password or SPN is wrong. The useful evidence is normally in the System and Security logs on the affected computer.
What to check
- Record the calling process, security package, and target before restarting anything.
- Review LSA, Kerberos, and Netlogon events on the local computer for earlier failures.
- If the issue survives a normal restart and affects multiple applications, investigate the Windows build, endpoint security integrations, and system integrity rather than altering LSASS-related settings manually.
