The input is not recognized as OpenType

MSSIPOTF_E_NOT_OPENTYPE is a container-recognition failure. A filename ending in .ttf, .otf, or .ttc is not evidence that its bytes have the OpenType structure expected by the checker.

The input may be a different font format, an HTML error page saved as a font, a compressed wrapper passed to the wrong stage, a partial download, or a damaged file whose first structures no longer identify a valid container. Diagnose the first bytes and the producer pipeline before investigating individual OpenType tables.

For a collection, ensure the tool receives the collection as a supported input and the correct font index where applicable.
