SPAPI_E_CLASS_MISMATCH

SPAPI_E_CLASS_MISMATCH means that SetupAPI compared the requested installation class with the class associated with the INF or selected device information element and found a mismatch. Continuing with a different class can select the wrong installer, driver list, or property rules.

What to check

Compare the requested class GUID with the INF Version section and the selected device information element.
Do not use a device interface class GUID where an installation class GUID is required.
Rebuild the driver list after correcting the class context; do not reuse a list produced for a different class.
