SPAPI_E_DEVINFO_DATA_LOCKED
SPAPI_E_DEVINFO_DATA_LOCKED means that a particular device information element is locked while SetupAPI is using it. The surrounding set can exist normally, but the selected device element cannot safely be changed until the owning operation finishes.
What to check
- Identify the operation or installer callback that currently owns the selected device element.
- Do not update the same SP_DEVINFO_DATA from a nested callback or another thread.
- After the operation completes, refresh any cached device information because installation may have changed its state.
