SCARD_E_UNKNOWN_RES_MNG A layered smart-card component returned an error that the Resource Manager could not recognize. The root cause is usually below the high-level PC/SC call, such as reader driver, minidriver, middleware, or hardware transport.
How to investigate
- Capture the failing API call, reader model, driver version, card ATR, and any lower-level status returned by the vendor component.
- Review Smart Card event logs and test with a minimal PC/SC tool to separate application logic from the reader stack.
- Update or repair only the relevant supported reader/minidriver package after identifying the failing layer.
