WU_E_XML_INVALID
WU_E_XML_INVALID means that Windows Update Agent found invalid information in an update's XML metadata. It is not a generic XML parser message from an arbitrary application; it refers to update metadata processed by WUA.
How to investigate
- Capture the update service and update identity that produced the error.
- Refresh the metadata through the supported client or management service rather than modifying cache files manually.
- Check whether the same error is reproduced for one update or for every search against the service.
