WU_E_IDLESHUTDOWN_OPCOUNT_DISCOVERY
WU_E_IDLESHUTDOWN_OPCOUNT_DISCOVERY is a lifecycle diagnostic: the Windows Update Agent began idle shutdown while a discovery call still contributed to its active-operation count. It is most useful to software that calls WUA APIs or to administrators investigating service restarts.
What to check
- Look for a scan or discovery request that overlaps a service stop, process exit, sleep transition, or another update operation.
- For code using WUA APIs, wait for the discovery callback or completion state before releasing the update session.
- For a normal endpoint, use this code as context and focus on the earlier operation that did not finish cleanly.
