WU_E_UH_UNEXPECTEDCBSRESPONSE

WU_E_UH_UNEXPECTEDCBSRESPONSE means the update handler called into CBS and got a response that did not match the expected servicing flow.

Review %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log at the same timestamp as the Windows Update failure.
Check for pending reboot, servicing corruption, or a missing prerequisite servicing stack update.
If repeated repairs do not help, an in-place repair install may be more appropriate than repeatedly clearing caches.
