What to check
- Review the sequence of requests in WindowsUpdate.log to find where the loop or repeated retry begins.
- Check IIS, WSUS, proxy, and load-balancer logs for redirects, timeouts, 503 responses, or application-pool recycling at the same time.
- Confirm that the client is targeting the intended WSUS FQDN and not being redirected to a stale or incompatible endpoint.
