WU_E_METADATA_BAD_FRAGMENTSIGNING_CONFIG
WU_E_METADATA_BAD_FRAGMENTSIGNING_CONFIG means the client received an invalid configuration describing how fragments of update metadata should be verified. Because this config defines the verification process, the client cannot safely continue with it.
What to check
- Identify whether the fault occurs only when scanning a particular WSUS server or signed catalog.
- Validate the server-side publication or synchronization process instead of attempting to repair the configuration on clients by hand.
- Review the log for nearby XML, certificate, or timestamp-token errors that may reveal which part of the config was invalid.
