WU_E_WUTASK_RETRY
WU_E_WUTASK_RETRY means a Windows Update task stopped before completing and must be run again. The code does not say that retrying immediately is always correct; the first failure should be addressed first.
How to retry safely
- Find the earlier download, install, policy, or reboot-related error that caused the task to stop.
- Resolve that condition, then start a new task or fresh scan rather than repeatedly retrying the same stale operation.
- Check whether a full reboot is required before the next attempt.
