TPM_20_E_RANGE
TPM_20_E_RANGE maps to TPM_RC_RANGE. The TPM decoded the field but found that its value lies outside the allowed range. That distinguishes it from TPM_20_E_VALUE, which also covers a value that is structurally valid yet invalid in its command context.
What to compare
- Check the numeric field against the limit defined for that command or structure, including offsets, counts, locality values, and size-derived bounds.
- Use the TPM capability data rather than assuming a range from another device or simulator.
- Preserve the command parameters in logs; changing only the final value can hide a preceding encoding or selector error.
