E_BLUETOOTH_ATT_UNKNOWN_ERROR is the Windows mapping for an ATT error that falls outside the standard values represented by the other HRESULT constants. It can indicate a profile-specific application error, a newer common profile error, a vendor-defined value, or a malformed server implementation using a reserved code.
Collapsing the result to “unknown” loses the distinction between these cases. The raw Error Response contains the request opcode, attribute handle, and one-byte error code; those fields are needed to consult the service specification or determine whether the peripheral violates the assigned ranges.
