ERROR_SPACES_RESILIENCY_TYPE_INVALID

Resiliency names are capabilities of the selected storage subsystem

ERROR_SPACES_RESILIENCY_TYPE_INVALID means the requested layout is not one of the resiliency settings usable for this pool and operation. Windows Storage Spaces commonly exposes Simple, Mirror, and Parity, but a provider can constrain which settings, media combinations, tiers, or deployment modes are available.

This differs from having too few disks for an otherwise valid layout. Here the resiliency choice itself cannot be resolved to a supported MSFT_ResiliencySetting, or it conflicts with other explicit geometry parameters.

Validate capability before supplying overrides

  • Enumerate resiliency settings associated with the target storage subsystem.
  • Use the exact provider-reported setting name rather than a translated display label.
  • Check whether storage tiers restrict the requested layout.
  • Remove manual column, copy, or parity overrides and test the provider default.
  • Distinguish Simple, Mirror, and Parity requirements before changing disk count.
  • Do not substitute hardware RAID terminology for Storage Spaces resiliency semantics.
