STATUS_TRANSACTION_INVALID_ID

The request ID itself is rejected before ordinary token matching can succeed

STATUS_TRANSACTION_INVALID_ID identifies the request-identifier dimension of the legacy transport transaction family. Microsoft's published text says the transport does not recognize the specified transaction request identifier. That is a narrower condition than “no matching token”: the producer is objecting to the ID used to identify the request rather than merely reporting an empty current-transaction lookup.

Public Microsoft transport documentation does not publish a universal transaction-ID layout for this status. Do not assume the field is a TCP sequence number, SMB message ID, or KTM transaction identifier. Legacy TDI provides only the surrounding architectural model: transports handle request types against connection/address/control objects and can pass request-specific information through their internal dispatch routines. The actual ID format must come from the component that emitted this status.

Capture the raw ID before conversion, byte-order changes, narrowing, or reuse of the request structure. Compare it with IDs allocated by the same provider and with the endpoint/control-object generation. Common debugging targets are uninitialized fields, stale IDs after reconnect, incorrect structure version/packing, and dispatch to the wrong provider. If the request type is also suspect, preserve it separately because STATUS_TRANSACTION_INVALID_TYPE exists for that distinct validation failure.
