STATUS_REGISTRY_QUOTA_LIMIT
Further system-hive storage requests are being rejected
This status reports registry capacity pressure, not simply low process memory. New system-registry storage cannot be accepted, so installers, services, and driver configuration can fail even when unrelated files can still be created.
The useful investigation is to find abnormal growth: oversized values, rapidly created subkeys, stale device or software entries, or a component repeatedly persisting state. Broad registry cleaning is risky because the largest keys are not necessarily expendable.
What to inspect
- Measure hive sizes and compare them with an earlier healthy system.
- Trace the component creating the fastest-growing keys or values.
- Check volume free space and system resource events at the same time.
- Remove data only through the owning product or a documented servicing procedure.
