STATUS_POLICY_OBJECT_NOT_FOUND
An expected policy object does not exist
This status is stronger than an ordinary optional lookup miss: the operation reached a state in which the policy object should exist. The missing object can therefore indicate an incomplete create/delete sequence, stale handle or name, replication/state mismatch, or damaged policy data.
Record the exact policy object identity and the operation that expected it. Re-enumerate through the owning policy API before recreating anything; manually inserting registry or directory data can produce an object that has the right name but lacks associated metadata or security state.
What to inspect
- Capture object type, identifier, policy-store location, and the operation that failed.
- Re-enumerate the store through the owning API to distinguish stale references from real absence.
- Use the component's supported create or recovery path instead of hand-creating policy metadata.
