STATUS_ONLY_IF_CONNECTED

A remote open exists, but the mini-redirector says it is not connected

STATUS_ONLY_IF_CONNECTED has a concrete meaning in the Windows network mini-redirector contracts. Microsoft documents it as a return value from MRxSetEaInfo when the SRV_OPEN structure is not connected. Related RDBSS set-information callbacks operate on remote file state maintained by the mini-redirector.

This makes the status more specific than a generic network outage. The failing request reached a path that requires an established server/open connection state, but the redirector-side object is not currently connected. A stale remote file object, disconnect/reconnect transition, server session loss, or ordering defect around open teardown can therefore be more relevant than DNS or local interface configuration.

Log the redirector operation, SRV_OPEN identity/state, associated file object, server/session connection state, and the disconnect or reconnect events immediately before the call. Determine whether the operation is valid after reconnect or whether the remote open must be re-created. Do not blindly retry against the same stale object: the callback contract requires connected state, so the owner of the remote open must restore or replace that state first.
