STATUS_PRENT4_MACHINE_ACCOUNT
The machine account must be recreated with current domain semantics
Machine accounts maintain a shared secret and secure channel with the domain. This status identifies an account created under older compatibility rules whose attributes cannot support the requested modern operation. Merely resetting the local computer password may not supply the missing account state.
Preserve the computer identity and service dependencies before removing the account. The normal remediation is to recreate or rejoin through supported domain tools so that the account, secret, service principal names, and secure channel are established consistently.
What to inspect
- Record the machine account SID, attributes, operating-system metadata, and secure-channel test result.
- Check for duplicate computer objects and stale DNS or SPN registrations.
- Use a controlled domain rejoin or account recreation procedure rather than editing password attributes directly.
