STATUS_FILE_HANDLE_REVOKED
A previously issued file handle has been revoked
The status means access through a specific file handle was withdrawn. It is not equivalent to reopening the path: the original handle can carry share modes, oplocks, byte-range locks, file identity, and provider state that a new open will not reproduce automatically.
Stop submitting work on the revoked handle and complete or cancel outstanding I/O according to the API contract. Determine why the file system, server, or provider revoked it before reopening, then revalidate file identity and application transaction state.
What to inspect
- Associate the status with the exact handle and outstanding requests.
- Collect server, cluster, filter, and file-system events explaining revocation.
- Reopen only after checking that the path still names the intended file.
