STATUS_LOST_WRITEBEHIND_DATA_NETWORK_DISCONNECTED
Delayed write-back failed after the network path disconnected
This variant identifies loss of connectivity while Windows was flushing buffered data to remote storage. The original write may already have returned success, but the server never received all dirty data.
Do not treat reconnecting the share as proof that the file is complete. Compare application-level lengths, checksums, or transaction logs on both sides. Investigate link resets, VPN or routing changes, SMB session expiry, and failover timing around the flush.
What to inspect
- Preserve client and server SMB and network events.
- Verify the remote file contents after connectivity returns.
- Use application transactions or explicit flushes for data that requires durable acknowledgement.
