STATUS_RUNLEVEL_SWITCH_IN_PROGRESS
Another run-level switch is already in progress
Run-level switching is serialized system work. This status means the caller attempted to begin a second transition before the current one completed. It is a state conflict, not evidence that the requested target level itself is invalid.
Management software should retain the identifier or timing of the active operation and wait for a terminal result before submitting another switch. If the existing transition appears stuck, diagnose its pending services or agent rather than flooding the coordinator with repeated requests.
What to inspect
- Record the current and requested target levels and the initiator of each request.
- Wait for the active switch to complete or fail before issuing another transition.
- If progress stops, investigate pending services and switch-agent timeouts.
