RPC_NT_UNKNOWN_AUTHN_SERVICE
RPC does not know the requested authentication service
This status is returned when the AuthnSvc value does not identify a supported RPC authentication service. It can occur while setting security on a binding or when a peer requires a service unavailable on the machine.
The service constant is separate from the authentication level. For example, packet privacy is a level; Negotiate, Kerberos, NTLM, Schannel, or no authentication are service choices.
What to inspect
- Log AuthnSvc and AuthnLevel separately.
- Check whether the required security package is present and enabled.
- Use RPC_C_AUTHN_DEFAULT only when default service selection is acceptable.
