What does NTSTATUS 0xC00A000F (STATUS_CTX_MODEM_RESPONSE_VOICE) mean?

STATUS_CTX_MODEM_RESPONSE_BUSY STATUS_CTX_TD_ERROR

STATUS_CTX_MODEM_RESPONSE_VOICE

The remote endpoint answered as voice, not data

This status means the modem path heard a voice answer or voice-class response where a data modem negotiation was expected. The remote number may be wrong, routed to a voice line, or answered by a non-modem device.

The RDS stack has not yet reached a normal Remote Desktop session. Troubleshooting should start with dialing rules and endpoint identity, not with session-host application behavior.

What to inspect

  • Confirm the dialed number, PBX route and outside-line prefix.
  • Check whether the target modem is powered on and configured for data mode.
  • Compare manual dialing behavior with TAPI/RAS logs.
