NS_E_FILE_ALLOCATION_FAILED
The operation could not reserve its output file
NS_E_FILE_ALLOCATION_FAILED (0xC00D001E) means a Windows Media component failed while allocating a file or required file extent. This is more specific than a later write failure and should be correlated with the target volume at the allocation step.
Evidence to keep
Record target path, requested/preallocated size, filesystem and volume, free space, quota, account, file attributes, and the first underlying Win32/storage error. If the component creates a temporary file first, distinguish the temporary and final paths.
Controlled test
Allocate an equivalent-size test file on the same volume under the same security context. Fix quota, space, path, or allocation restrictions identified by that test, then retry the original operation. Do not assume that a small successful write proves a large preallocation will succeed.
