NS_E_PDA_FAIL_SELECT_DEVICE
The target device could not be selected for the operation
NS_E_PDA_FAIL_SELECT_DEVICE (0xC00D117C) occurs while Windows Media Player is selecting/communicating with the requested portable device or CD drive. It precedes item transfer and should not be reduced to a file-format error.
Capture selection state
Record device instance ID, Player-visible device list, selected target, transport/provider initialization result, and the first communication HRESULT. Confirm the selected identity still corresponds to the physically connected device.
Retest
Re-enumerate devices and select the same target once after its driver/provider is ready. If another device selects successfully, compare provider and transport state. Do not delete playlists or transcode files until device selection itself is proven to work.
