NS_E_WMP_SERVER_INACCESSIBLE

Diagnosing NS_E_WMP_SERVER_INACCESSIBLE in the Windows Media Player playback path

NS_E_WMP_SERVER_INACCESSIBLE (0xC00D1198) is returned when the Player could not establish a usable route to the named server or selected proxy.

Diagnostic discriminator: Test the actual application protocol and port through the selected proxy instead of relying on ICMP. Successful name resolution with a failed application connection narrows the problem to route, firewall, proxy, or server reachability.

Actions that obscure the cause

testing only ICMP ping.
