Find the duplicate controller
Enumerate configured device-control plug-ins, their target device identifiers, load order, and the object that attached each plug-in. A duplicate can come from loading a saved configuration and then adding another controller programmatically.
Fix and verify
Keep one intended controller for the device and detach the duplicate through the supported object lifecycle, then recreate/validate the affected encoder state. Do not disable unrelated capture sources. If the sole controller later reports a hardware or tape condition, preserve that separate result.
