Decision rule
A different file is only a control. The repair must make the original bytes or references pass the same parser/protocol boundary without silently substituting another input.
Focused test
Capture the same exchange with byte counts and framing intact, then compare it with a known compatible response for the same protocol. If a proxy is present, a supported direct-origin comparison can show whether excess data is introduced by the intermediary. Do not “fix” the symptom by merely increasing unrelated bandwidth limits.
Verification
Repeat the same request and confirm the response terminates at the expected protocol boundary without extra bytes or duplicated payload. If the connection now advances to a parser or media error, preserve that new HRESULT separately.
