MF_E_BYTESTREAM_NOT_SEEKABLE

MF_E_BYTESTREAM_NOT_SEEKABLE is a capability mismatch between a Media Foundation component and the supplied IMFByteStream. The component needs random access, but GetCapabilities does not report MFBYTESTREAM_IS_SEEKABLE.

Check the stream contract, not the codec

Log the exact flags returned by IMFByteStream::GetCapabilities.
Identify which source handler or media operation requested a seek. Header probing, duration discovery, and indexed seeking can require repositioning even when sequential reads appear to work.
For a custom byte stream, verify that SetCurrentPosition and seek-related behavior are implemented consistently before advertising the seekable flag.

Do not simply force MFBYTESTREAM_IS_SEEKABLE. If the underlying network or producer is forward-only, use a cache, temporary file, or another source path that can provide real random access. A decoder change does not repair an IMFByteStream capability violation.
