MF_E_SINK_ALREADYSTOPPED
MF_E_SINK_ALREADYSTOPPED identifies a duplicate or badly ordered stop transition in a media sink. It is different from a general sink failure: the requested transition conflicts with the sink's current clock state because stopping has already completed.
Trace clock-state callbacks and stop ownership
- Log the sink state before every stop request and the thread or component that initiated the transition.
- Check whether both application teardown and a presentation-clock callback attempt to stop the same sink path.
- Serialize shutdown so that a second stop is not issued after the sink has already acknowledged the first one.
Media sinks participate in presentation-clock state through stream-sink and clock-state contracts. Recreating media types or flushing samples does not change the fact that the sink is already stopped. The useful evidence is the transition history showing who sent the first stop and why another stop followed.
