MF_E_TRANSFORM_PROFILE_TRUNCATED is specifically an unexpected-end condition while a transform parses required profile data. It should be distinguished from a profile that is complete but semantically invalid.
Measure what was produced and what was actually read
- Log the serialized profile length before writing, the persisted object or stream length, and the total bytes returned to the transform.
- Detect short reads, partial downloads, interrupted writes, and application code that reuses a stream without rewinding to the expected position.
- Keep the exact failing blob or settings stream so it can be compared byte-for-byte with a known-good profile.
Do not repair this by appending zeros or padding an arbitrary buffer. The transform is parsing structured configuration and needs the missing fields, not merely a larger allocation. A deterministic length mismatch is stronger evidence than changing codec media types or restarting the Media Session.
