MF_E_TOPOLOGY_VERIFICATION_FAILED

MF_E_TOPOLOGY_VERIFICATION_FAILED is a protected-content topology trust failure, not simply a failure to connect media types. In the PMP model, the policy engine examines the resolved pipeline, identifies trusted outputs, and negotiates the protection systems required by each input trust authority.

Inspect the resolved topology and trust boundaries

Changing decoder preference at random is not a reliable fix. First determine which node or output crosses the protected boundary and whether the selected component is valid for the protected process. Ordinary topology connectivity errors use other HRESULTs such as MF_E_TOPO_CANNOT_CONNECT.
