MF_E_HDCP_LINK_FAILURE

MF_E_HDCP_LINK_FAILURE identifies a runtime HDCP link failure after the protected link has already been established. The timing is the key distinction: authentication succeeded earlier, so diagnostics should focus on changes to an active output path rather than only initial receiver capability.

Correlate the failure with link and display topology changes

HDCP 2.2 performs an ongoing link-integrity check after session-key exchange and encryption have started. The receiver can request re-authentication when cipher synchronization is lost, and topology changes can also force authenticated state transitions. That makes this HRESULT materially different from MF_E_HDCP_AUTHENTICATION_FAILURE. A link that works initially but fails after a display, repeater, or connection-state change should be investigated as an active-link integrity problem.
