MQ_ERROR_ILLEGAL_CURSOR_ACTION
MQ_ERROR_ILLEGAL_CURSOR_ACTION means that the requested receive action cannot be applied at the current cursor position. Microsoft documents this result when MQ_ACTION_PEEK_NEXT is requested while the cursor is already at the end of the queue.
How to investigate
- Use a cursor created by
MQCreateCursorbefore relying onMQ_ACTION_PEEK_NEXT. - Treat reaching the end of the queue as a normal traversal boundary rather than repeatedly issuing the same peek action.
- Recreate or reposition the cursor according to the required enumeration semantics before continuing.
