STATUS_TXF_DIR_NOT_EMPTY
The TxF metadata directory is not in the required empty state
STATUS_TXF_DIR_NOT_EMPTY refers to the special TxF metadata area on an NTFS volume. Certain maintenance or resource-manager operations require the $Txf directory to be empty before the operation can proceed.
This is not about the user's application directory being non-empty. It points to transactional file-system metadata that still exists on the volume, often because transactions, resource-manager state, or recovery artifacts have not been fully cleared.
What to check
- Whether TxF recovery, cleanup, or resource-manager restart is still pending for the volume.
- Active or in-doubt transactions associated with the file-system resource manager.
- Volume state after an interrupted rollback, crash, or restore operation.
- Administrative tools or logs that mention TxF metadata cleanup on the affected volume.
Useful distinction
Do not diagnose this as a normal directory delete failure. The name $Txf is internal transactional metadata, and manual deletion is not the safe fix.
