STATUS_LOG_SECTOR_INVALID
STATUS_LOG_SECTOR_INVALID concerns the stable-storage layer of a Common Log File System (CLFS) log. CLFS stores records in log I/O blocks that begin on sector boundaries; the status means that a sector expected to participate in that layout could not be accepted as a valid sector for the log.
This is broader than STATUS_LOG_SECTOR_PARITY_INVALID, which points to the parity check for a sector, and narrower than STATUS_LOG_BLOCK_INVALID, which concerns validation of a complete log I/O block. The status does not by itself establish whether the cause is damaged media, an incomplete recovery set, or a mismatched log component.
Preserve evidence before attempting recovery
- Keep the base log file and every associated container together; a single container copied in isolation is not a complete representation of a CLFS physical log.
- Record the log path, the failing LSN or offset when available, and storage diagnostics before any operation that can recycle containers.
- Use CLFS validation and a known-good backup or restore workflow rather than manually changing sector-aligned bytes.
