STATUS_LOG_METADATA_INCONSISTENT
STATUS_LOG_METADATA_INCONSISTENT means CLFS found metadata whose data does not agree with the rest of the log state. A CLFS physical log includes a base metadata file and containers, and its LSNs relate logical container identifiers, block offsets, and record sequence numbers.
The important distinction is from STATUS_LOG_METADATA_CORRUPT: corruption points to damaged metadata, whereas inconsistency can be detected when metadata relationships conflict. It is also not a substitute for a record-level result such as STATUS_LOG_RECORD_NONEXISTENT.
Compare the complete state, not one field
- Preserve the base log and container inventory with their paths and timestamps before validation.
- Validate the complete CLFS log after an archive or restore operation, where metadata-to-data consistency is required.
- Do not mix containers from different backup points or assume a readable header proves that the log can be recovered safely.
