STATUS_GRAPHICS_MONITORDESCRIPTOR_ALREADY_IN_SET

The operation attempted a duplicate insertion

STATUS_GRAPHICS_MONITORDESCRIPTOR_ALREADY_IN_SET means the descriptor is already present in the relevant monitor descriptor set. It is not evidence that the monitor supplied duplicate EDID blocks; the duplicate can be created by a driver that retries an add operation after a partial state transition or that does not track the set it is modifying.

A retry should begin by querying current membership. The set may already contain the descriptor because the preceding call succeeded before the caller observed a later error. Removing and re-adding descriptors without checking the current VidPN state can turn a recoverable duplication into a stale-object problem.
