STATUS_GRAPHICS_SOURCE_ID_MUST_BE_UNIQUE
Video present source identifiers must not collide
Each video present source on an adapter must have a unique identifier. This status means a second source was introduced with an ID already used by another source in the same adapter or VidPN context.
This is an identity collision, not a duplicate path. One source may legitimately appear in several paths in clone layouts, but the source inventory itself must still contain unique IDs. Bugs often come from reusing array indexes after a dynamic source is removed or from merging data for linked or virtual adapters incorrectly.
What to check
- Dump the full source inventory, not just the source in the failing call.
- Check virtual or indirect display code that allocates logical source IDs dynamically.
- Keep adapter-local IDs separate from target IDs and from user-facing monitor numbers.
