STATUS_GRAPHICS_VIDPN_SOURCE_IN_USE
STATUS_GRAPHICS_VIDPN_SOURCE_IN_USE means the selected VidPN source is already owned by a Display Mode Management client and cannot be used until that client releases it. This is a source-level ownership rule inside the display configuration model, not a generic mutex contention or an arbitrary application-level lock.
A VidPN source represents an independent view or primary-surface chain. Capture the source ID, the current active topology, and the operation attempting to claim the source. Fullscreen transitions, display-control utilities, and concurrent mode-management operations can all be relevant context.
What not to assume
- Do not assume that another physical monitor owns the source; source and target are distinct VidPN concepts.
- Do not equate this status with a device-removal error or a monitor disconnect.
- Do not keep changing topology while an existing display-management client owns the source.
Proceed only after the owner releases the source or after the intended display-management operation has completed and the active topology has been re-queried.
