STATUS_GRAPHICS_OPM_PROTECTED_OUTPUT_DOES_NOT_HAVE_OPM_SEMANTICS
The protected output is not an OPM-native output
STATUS_GRAPHICS_OPM_PROTECTED_OUTPUT_DOES_NOT_HAVE_OPM_SEMANTICS is a Windows NTSTATUS value from the graphics/display facility. In this group, the status is tied to protected video output, OPM/COPP compatibility, PVP certificate validation, output-protection hardware, or the monitor configuration path.
A protected-output handle has protocol semantics attached to it. This status is the inverse of the COPP-semantics mismatch: an OPM-native information or configuration request was made against a protected output whose semantics are COPP-compatible.
The right fix is to use the API path that matches the handle, not to retry the same command with arbitrary parameters. Applications that bridge DirectShow COPP and Media Foundation OPM code are especially likely to mix handles or request types during migration.
What to check
- Track protected-output creation mode together with the handle in logs.
- Do not send OPM-native status or configuration requests to COPP-compatible handles.
- Audit wrapper code that translates DirectShow COPP operations into newer OPM paths.
