STATUS_GRAPHICS_NO_DISPLAY_DEVICE_CORRESPONDS_TO_NAME
STATUS_GRAPHICS_NO_DISPLAY_DEVICE_CORRESPONDS_TO_NAME means that the supplied GDI display-device name could not be matched to an actual display device in the current session. A friendly monitor name, a stale stored name, and an adapter device name are not interchangeable identifiers.
Enumerate display adapters first and then enumerate monitors for a selected adapter. Store the returned device name, device ID, state flags, and session context together instead of reconstructing an identifier from a previous topology snapshot.
Common causes to separate
- The name belonged to a display removed by an unplug, dock, GPU switch, or session change.
- The caller supplied a monitor name where the API expects an adapter name, or the reverse.
- The device exists physically but is not available in the caller's current session.
Changing resolution or forcing a mode set will not make an invalid identifier valid. The safe next step is a fresh enumeration and a deliberate match to the intended adapter/monitor relationship.
