STATUS_FWP_ZERO_LENGTH_ARRAY
An empty collection is invalid for this API, even though some WFP filters may be unconditional
STATUS_FWP_ZERO_LENGTH_ARRAY means an API-specific array has a count of zero where the contract requires at least one entry. It should not be confused with an unconditional FWPM_FILTER0: WFP explicitly permits a filter with zero filter conditions, in which case its action applies whenever the filter is reached.
Therefore, identify the count field that BFE rejected before changing filter conditions. The relevant array may belong to a condition list, provider data, an IPsec policy component, or an enumeration input. Filling it with a dummy entry is unsafe because the dummy can become real policy.
What to inspect
- The structure and count field reported by the calling operation.
- Whether zero has a documented meaning for that exact field, not for a nearby WFP structure.
- The pointer paired with the count and the allocation path that produced both values.
- Whether an unconditional filter was intended and can use zero filter conditions legitimately.
